Psalms 22:9-10

"It was you who brought me safely through birth, and when I was a baby you kept me safe. I have relied on you since the day I was born, and you have always been my God."

Psalm 102:18

"Let this be written for a future generation, that a people not yet created may praise the Lord."

God's Power to Raise From the Dead

John 5:21
For as the Father raises the dead and gives them life, so also the Son gives life to whom He will.

Matthew 11:5
The blind receive their sight and the lame walk, lepers are cleansed and the deaf hear, and the dead are raised up, and the poor have good news preached to them.

Luke 7:22
And he answered them, "Go and tell John what you have seen and heard: the blind receive their sight, the lame walk, lepers are cleansed, and the deaf hear, the dead are raised up, the poor have good news preached to them.

Luke 20:37
But that the dead are raised, even Moses showed, in the passage about the bush, where he calls the Lord God of Abraham and the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob.

John 12:1
Six days before the Passover, Jesus therefore came to Bethany, where Lazarus was, whom Jesus had raised from the dead.

John 12:9
When the large crowd of the Jews learned that Jesus was there, they came, not only on account of him but also to see Lazarus, whom He had raised from the dead.

John 12:17
The crowd that had been with him when he called Lazarus out of the tomb and raised him from the dead continued to bear witness.

Acts 2:24
God raised Him up, loosing the pangs of death, because it was not possible for him to be held by it.

Acts 13:30
But God raised Him from the dead,

Acts 26:8
Why is thought incredible by any of you that God raises the dead?

Romans 8:11
If the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, he who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit who dwells in you.

1 Corinthians 6:14
And God raised the Lord and will also raise us up by his power

Hebrews 11:19
He considered that God was able even to raise him from the dead, from which, figuratively speaking, he did receive him back.

Matthew 10:8
Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse lepers, cast out demons.  You received with out paying; give without pay.

Contrast

We are slow to listen, quick to speak and quick to become angry… God calls us to be QUICK to listen, SLOW to speak and SLOW to become angry.
I still have some work to do on this one.

Am I a Believer or a Disciple?

There is no cost to being a believer.

There is a cost to being a disciple...It costs you your whole life!

A disciple is a person who lives like Jesus lived.
-Humble, obedient (even to the cross), servanthood, total submission to His Father's will.

A Disciple Loves like Jesus Loved

A disciple will Leave like Jesus Left
- Intentional about spending time training other disciples to carry on His work.

Thoughts Arguments Strongholds

Lord touch my tongue - Bayless Conley

Proverbs 16:27
An ungodly man digs up evil; and in his lips there is as a burning fire.

Proverbs 18:20-21
A man's belly shall be satisfied with the fruit of his mouth; and with the increase of his lips shall he be filled. Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.

James 3:2-4
For in many things we offend all.  If any man offend not in word, the same is a perfect man, and able also to bridle the whole body.  Behold, we put bits in the horses mouths, that they may obey us; and we turn about their whole body.  Behold also the ships, which though they be so great, and are driven of fierce winds, yet are they turned about with a very small helm, where ever the pilot desires.

James 3:5-6
Even so the tongue is a little member and boasts of great things.  Behold, how great a matter a little fire kindles!  And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity: so is the tongue among our members, that id defiles the whole body, and sets on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire of hell.

Psalms 39:1-3
I said, I will take heed to my ways, that I sin not with my tongue: I will keep my mouth with a bridle, while the wicked is before me.  I was dumb with silence, I held my peace, even from good; and my sorrow was stirred.  My heart was hot within me, while I was musing the fire burned: then spoke I with my tongue.

Psalms 45:1
My heart overflows with a good matter: I speak of the things which I have made for the king: my tongue is the pen of a ready writer.

2 Corinthians 10:3-5
For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every though to the obedience of Christ;

It starts with a thought (take captive)... turns into an argument (cast down)... turns into a stronghold (pull down)... a stronghold is a position from which the enemy can work... and then we speak!

Take every thought captive - if you don't thoughts grow into arguments- it starts to make sense to you - need to cast down an argument - if you don't cast down an argument it will grow into a stronghold and strongholds need to be torn down.

Faith in God's word - Ephesians 5:26

Who's thoughts are you meditating on?

Children of God...

1 John 3

-They are sons of God
-Shall be like Him
-Shall see Him as He is
-Put their hope in God
-do not sin
-do righteousness
-do not commit sin
-remain in God
-love one another
-believe on the name of Jesus Christ
-lay down their lives for their brothers
-love in deed and truth
-keep God's commands and do what is pleasing in His sight.

God Equips Us!

Exodus 35:30

God does not call us without equipping us to do it.

The Holy Spirit equips us with giftings

Seek God for wisdom that goes beyond natural wisdom and reasoning.

1 Corinthians 2:6-16

James 1:5-7

The boiler room - is the prayer room

Prayer builds the root system of every church and ministry - without prayer, when the winds blow and trials come the tree will topple over and die.

My house will be a house of prayer

The fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much

Be sure to cover leadership, pastor, families, marriages, country, town and province in prayer regularly

Ask God to equip, ask Him for His plan, ideas, creativity, wisdom.  Ask Him to remove hindrances and fear.

Listen to God

If I want to minister God's healing - I need to study healing and other healers
Whatever God calls us to do the question always is "Am I willing?"

Image:
The roots of a tree are
-prayer
-listening to God
-Being still before God
-Prayer partners

Trunk of the tree is
-Studying the Bible
-steps of obedience
-meeting with mentors
-learning from others

Fruit of the tree is produced as a result of a strong root system providing a strong trunk and branches which in turn produce abundant and healthy fruit.

The Dessert Place

Training in the Wilderness

Matthew 3:16-4:11
Luke 4:14

The dessert seasons in our lives can be used by God for...

-Refining time
-uprooting junk
-purging and cleaning
-to deepen our faith
-to build new mindsets
-to form new identities
-revelation of new strategies and/or ideas
-maturing to bring us to a place where God can use us more effectively in ministry
-to give us greater authority
-to learn to rely more deeply on God
-healing for wounds
-often a testing time of the true motives of our heart (we say we are hungry for God... Are we really?)
-to take us beyond where we have been.

During these times we can:

-a time we can either give up or embrace God's lessons
-keep track of all that God shows you
-thank Him for dreams, words, pictures and scriptures that are given for you.
-Hebrews 5:10-11
-praise God for His words and promises
-Thank Him and tell Him how much you are looking forward to them being fulfilled
-Fast - fasting is a tool (in Mark - this one only comes out by fasting and prayer)
-in the pits delcare what he has done in your past, His promises, who He is and what His word says.

Psalms 84:5

Often the devil shows up when we are at our weakest.

Intimacy

Psalm 63:1-8

In Genesis Adam and Eve talked and walked with God in the cool of the day.  They recognized His footsteps.  Moses talked with God face to face as a friend.  Moses, Abraham and Lot all negotiated with God (they talked and God listened and took what they said into consideration)

Time with God enables us to take a stand and have confidence when we face our giants.  God shares His secrets with His friends.  What God reveals is for you and your children.  We need to care for and cherish God's presence as we would care for a new born baby.  Know God so well that we know who of the trinity is speaking (Father, Son or the Holy Spirit).

If we want to be intimate with God we need to learn to be still (Body, soul and spirit).

Hindrances:
-External distractions
-Internal chaos
-we need to be deliberate in removing all hindrances both external and internal.

It cannot be hurried or forced.

Consciously plan it, deliberately pursue it

Primary purpose of Scripture is to draw you into God's presence

-When things do do pop into your mind - write them down.
-When thoughts of sin pop into your mind - confess them, repent (decide to stop doing it) & take care of it)
-When your mind wanders - Focus on Jesus and the scriptures
- When you need to get in touch with your heart - start singing or listening to that song.

When the bride groom returns you want to be in a relationship where we only have eyes for each other.

With your words you can either bless or curse; agree with God or agree with the devil; speak life or speak death.

Transitions - Letting Go

Session 1 of our 2010 Ladies retreat

Are you willing to surrender to my way?

The cost is obedience...

Hinderances of stepping into God's will

1. Fear
- of the unknown (easier to stay put)
- Am I good enough for God's calling?

2.  Lack of Trust
-is God adequate?
-Do I trust God in my heart with my life details?

3.  Not believing that I am loved by God
-will I really trust God with it?
-I need to decide to give it to God

4.  Sacrifice - the requirement of sacrifice
- what is the risk?

5.  Inflexibility
- I need to be flexible to do it God's way
-am I really hungry?  Am I really willing?
-am I really passionate?
-Do I really want God to add fuel to my fire?

6.  Putting God in a box
-God is only getting started!
-He is beyond what we can ask, think, or imagine.

At the end of this first session I was left to answer the following questions... honestly

Am I willing to surrender to God's way?

What are my fears?

Am I good enough for God's calling?

Do I lack trust in God?

Do I trust God in the bottom of my heart?

Do I really know that God loves me?

Am I really ready to trust God with Everything?

What sacrifices will I have to make to do what God is asking of me?

Am I willing to make those sacrifices?

What are the risks?

Am I willing to take those risks?

Am I really hungry?

Am I really passionate?

Do I really want God to add fuel to my fire?

Am I really willing?

Don't put God in a box!  He is only getting started and He will do more than I can ever ask, think or imagine!!

Choose

*Decide God's word is true no matter what you see or feel

* I don't find the will of God by my experiences or other's experiences.  I find the will of God by the word of God!

Oh how sweet...if only

The past week has been a real whirlwind of activity.  Nicole turned 15 and she is finishing up her first grade 10 credit online.  She had her birthday celebration over the weekend, however fireworks were rained out so they were set off on her actual birthday with a few friends.  On Monday Jocelyn made her first birthday cake for Nicole and it turned out fabulous!

On a personal note... I am still struggling to find time to spend in God's word or even to sit down and just de-stress.  I have felt quite often lately that I just need to get away for a couple of days and just chill out with God!  Oh how sweet that would be... If only that would actually work :-)

Frusterated

This past week there were several moments that I almost could not fight off the erge to run far away for a long time just to get quiet with God!  The song "undo" has hit hard and right home with me to call me a prodical or a hypocrite would only scratch the surface of who I've been known to be!

Psalms 37:4-6
Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart.  Commit your ways to the Lord, trust in Him and He will do this.  He will make your righteousness shine like the dawn the justice of your cause like the noonday sun.

God is going to have to work out a miracle to repair my faith....Frusterated - Lonely - Secluded - Useless - Sinking.

UNDO
I've been here before, now here I am again
Standing at the door, praying You'll let me back in
To label me a prodigal would be
Only scratching the surface of who I've been known to be

Turn me around, pick me up, undo what I've become
Bring me back to the place of forgiveness and grace
I need You, I need Your help, I can't do this myself
You're the only one who can undo what I've become

I focused on the score but I can never win
Trying to ignore a life of hiding my sin
To label me a hypocrite would be
Only scratching the surface of who I've been known to be, yeah

Turn me around, pick me up, undo what I've become
Bring me back to the place of forgiveness and grace
I need You, I need Your help, I can't do this myself
You're the only one who can undo what I've become

Make every step lead me back
To the sovereign way that You

Turn me around, pick me up, undo what I've become
Bring me back to the place of forgiveness and grace
I need You, I need Your help, I can't do this myself
You're the only one who can undo

You are the only one who can undo
You are the only one who can undo what I've become
You're the only one

Ambassador from another Kingdom

I have been convicted by the Holy Spirit over the past couple of days.  I am to be an ambassador for Jesus Christ here on this earth for as long as I live.  He is my Lord.  He is my boss.  My home should resemble a heavenly embassy in which others can experience the kingdom that I am here to represent.

Do others see Jesus and desire to know more about His kingdom and how they can visit there by visiting my home or am I mis representing him and driving people away from Him or just to someplace else completely?

Scriptures say that out of the overflow of the heart the mouth speaks.  What is exiting my lips?  What is in my heart?  Do I desire to follow my Lord's instructions no matter what the cost out of honor and respect for Him?

It is so easy to make excuses... the scriptures really can't mean that... that must of been for the people back then... it can't really be for now... that is more than I can handle... God would never ask me to give that up... did God really mean that the way I am reading it, surely not... that is meant for the really sinful people not me, I am not that bad.  Really these are all just fake escape clauses to make me feel better about how I am doing as a Christian... HA... hypocrite.

I really need to come to the point (If I was wise this would be A.S.A.P) where anything that God asks me to do I would respond with "yes my Lord" and act without delay!  in my mind I know that this is where I want to be but my actions and words still lack.

God help our home be your embassy where your will is displayed and your name is honored without fail, where your wishes are carried out to the fullest without excuse.  Help us all to be ambassadors worthy to be called so.

Why are little things so hard... especially those that are good for me?

I find it almost amusing but mostly frusterating knowing how alive and energetic I feel when I am spending time with God daily and am constantly in His word, however find it so hard to find time to be there consistantly.

Where does my time go?

I recently learned that the average Canadian spends more that 8 hours per day viewing tv, reading newspapers and surfing the internet (2008 study sited in the Sun).  Since we don't subscribe to any newspapers and we don't regularly watch telelvision I guess that leaves me to assess how much time I spend on the internet.  Honestly between brief times on my ipod touch and time on our desktop computer my total daily average would be well under 2 hours... this includes school plans, reports and research.  I probably spend 10 minutes at a time 3-6 times per day on the ipod checking email, facebook, book keeping etc.  Computer time for banking, email, school stuff etc probably adds up to 1-3 hours per week in larger chunks of time.  So to be fair I spend probably at the top end an average of 45 minutes per day on my ipod - computer time etc.

That still leaves a lot of time to account for.

The obvious time used are things like sleep 480 minutes, Personal care 60 minutes, Food prep and meals 180 minutes, homeschooling 90 minutes, phone usage to family, friends and business calls 30 minutes, housework and errands 180, work 120, activities including Bible studies and church 145 minutes.

Quick summary (time averaged over 7 days)...
Sleep... 480
Meals... 180
Maintenance... 180
Activities... 145
Work... 120
School... 90
Personal... 60
Computer... 45
Phone... 30

Minutes in 24 hours... 1440
Minutes used up daily... 1330
Minutes left for Social life and time with God... 1 hour 50 minutes

In a perfect world I guess that would be ok.  In my world not everything goes according to planned.  Schoolwork gets dragged out, errands take longer than expected, my body needs 12 hours sleep one or two nights in a row and all of a sudden that couple of hours I thought that I had today is gone!!

WOW just taking time to analyze where my time has gone has made me realize how precious it truly is and how much more focused I need to become.  I really want to find a way to put aside 3 hours with God daily.  I know I can do it I just need to figure out how.  Now that I have recognized this I guess I should actually figure it out and follow through or else this time too will have been wasted!

The power of taking our needs before God first.

This is one thing that I have discovered over the past several years.  God is definately honored when we decide that we are going to go to him first with EVERYTHING!  As humans living in North America we have a tendency to be self relient most of the time.  In Canada we don't even have to pay for health care.  Would we think twice about relying on God for our day to day health if health care was not free or even available?

When I first started to really put these truths into practice it was about 2-3 years ago.  I had a run of infections and seemed to always be at the doctor & on antibiotics.  I was always tired and my lungs (which were very damaged from having breathed through a treacheotomy for 16 years) were very sore and always congested.

One day I was reading in Proverbs Chapter 4:20-22  "My son, attend to my words ; incline your ear to my sayings.  Let them not depart from your eyes;  keep them in the midst of your heart.  For they are life to those that find them, and health to all their flesh."  God impressed upon my heart that His word would heal my body.  It didn't matter where I was reading in the Bible I just needed to remain in His word daily and make it priority in my life.

I began listening to sermons on healing and reading the Bible about 2 hours a day. God brought me through a time of forgivness & repentance.  My body began to heal and my energy returned.  God showed me how to resist sickness in my life.  Arthritis, endometriosis, fibrosis in my lungs, low blood pressure, constant low grade fevers, hormonal imbalance and infections all slowly but surely melted away.  Then it happened... I was on the phone with my friend Tereasa and in the middle of a sentence I spoke 2 audible words! (I have not spoken out loud audibly since I was 1 year old)

This makes it sound like I have it all figured out... well it is one thing to live under God's perfect will for a year but it is another thing to remain there.  It is so easy to get distracted by life.  Homeschooling, mothering, housework & being a wife all seem to get in the way and provide distractions.  I know that those 2 words were just a deposit and I will speak aloud permanently some day soon but I need to keep my eyes focused on my source of power and purpose to do so for the rest of my life.

I am so thankful for my friends who remind me when I get off track...

One day I didn't go to church because I had a huge headache... my friend Julie asked Brent where I was and she did not even bat an eye before coming over and praying with me... reminding me that God did give us authority over every sickness & disease and I did not need to accept the headache... I went to church pain free within a short while:-)

Recently there were a few times when I just did not feel like I had the strength to keep up the battle and rebuke sickness... my friend D J has prayed for me twice recently when I just lived with something (forgeting to rebuke it right away).  She is an awesome prayer warrior and believer in God's will and His power to heal.  Both times she prayed the sickness and pain immediately left.

I wish I would just get it right once and for all and not let anything sit in my body that causes pain or sickness.  I know from experience that God is my healer and my strength.  He has given believers all authority over every sickness and every disease so I don't have to live with so much as a sniffle anymore!  It was done at Calvary... "by his stripes we were healed!"

It is my goal to get to the place where everything... no matter how big or small in my life will be lifted up before the throne of God FIRST and then living in peace knowing that He has already taken care of it.

Did God Really Say??

"Now the snake was the most cunning animal that the LORD God had made. The snake asked the woman, "Did God really tell you not to eat fruit from any tree in the garden?""

How can we begin to answer the question that Satan repeats to us all the time? He really is not that smart. And more often that not we, as humans, respond the same way that Eve did...

I have come to realize that I need to be solidly grounded in God's truth in order to not get sucked into doubting what God has said or questioning what God has meant by it. As a Christian I have the Holy Spirit guiding my into all understanding, revelation and truth.

I was watching a video on redemption on http://www.osborn.org/ and simply put the root of all sin is doubt. That is where it all begins. It is wonderful when we can take a truth and simplify it. If something causes you to doubt the word of God or question what it means you can be sure that it has the stamp of satan's approval on it.

This revelation about being more solidly grounded in what the word of God REALLY says started about 6 years ago. I wanted to know what God's word said for myself instead of relying on hear say and rumours. The more I dug the more I found out how many suttle lies I had been sucked into. It is amazing how clear God's word is and how freeing it was when I choose to read it fresh and choose to take every word of it as truth.

This is still my goal... to discover God's truth... to answer the question that Satan asked in the garden "Did God really tell you not to...?" So I know without a doubt who I am following every minute of every day and am not decieved by the enemy!

The God of Abraham, Isaac & Jacob... WOW!

These were all men choosen by God.  At first glance or thought of these names I always seem to think that they were great righteous men and they always must have followed God in order to be choosen and favored by Him.  When you look again and read the book of Genesis like you would read a novel, as a whole, you get a different picture of these men.  They were men who were definately choosen by God not neccesarily men who choose God before He choose them.  I especially see this in Jacob's case.

Abram (later Abraham) was willing to follow God's instructions and believed in the promise that God had given to Abram in Genesis 12 at 75 years of age.  However he felt like he had to lie and get Sarai to lie in order to protect his life when they entered foreign lands twice even though he was in God's will going into these lands.  He had God's promise that he and his seed would posess that land yet he didn't rely fully on God to protect him as he went.  In Chapter 15 God said to Abram in a vision "Fear not, Abram: I am your shield, and your exceeding great reward."  Then God goes on to expand on his promise to Abram.  Even after this promise that God would be Abram's protector he lie's again about Sarai being his sister to protect himself.

Then in Chapter 16 he gets impatient about the promise that God would give him many decendants and decides that he will have a child through his wife's handmaid instead of waiting for Sarai to have children.  This was not what God had intended.  I know that Sarah was past menopause but with God all things are possible and we can rely on God's word to us.

Abraham had the same tendency that I have... to take a promise from God and try to make it happen instead of letting God unfold it before me.

Even though Abraham did not fully rely on God to fulfill His promise's of protection, prosperity and to be a great nation of people, God did it anyways... Abraham's heart was in the right place.  He wanted to do God's will but was very impatient in the waiting part.

I want to learn from Abraham's mistakes and fully rely on God and his promises to me the way that God wants them to unfold in my life instead of making them happen in an inferior way... my way.

My Journalling Album

My favorite scrapbook pages are contained in my journalling scrapbook album.  They are the pages that have few photos and a whole lot of journalling!  It is my story. I want to expand that album.  There are many stories left to be told and many things to testify to God's great power and love!  It is my hope that the readers of these pages will be boosted in their faith and be spured on to have faith in God and his promises.

New Years Resolution?

I really don't do New Years Resolutions but I do believe in evaluating life sometimes and drawing a line in the sand.  Starting over and refreshing commitments.

It is my commitment to God, myself and my family to strive to be closer to God this year.  To seek out His will for my life.  To strive to remain under God's protection.  To rely on God as my only source, provider, healer, deliverer, counselor.  He is ALL I need!
