Psalms 23

Psalms 23

The LORD is my shepherd,
I shall not be in want.
He makes me lie down in
green pastures,
he leads me beside quiet waters,
he restores my soul.
He guides me in paths of
righteousness for his name's sake.
Even though I walk
through the valley of the
shadow of death,
I will fear no evil,
for you are with me;
your rod and your staff,
they comfort me.
You prepare a table before me
in the presence of my enemies.
You anoint my head with oil;
my cup overflows.
Surely goodness and love
will follow me
all the days of my life,
and I will dwell in the house
of the LORD forever.

Starting in October 1990 God really put Psalms 23 evident in my life as an encouraging passage and He has proved it all true, never failing.  In October of 1989 my aunt Ruth sent me the book "The Way of the Shepherd" courage and contentment from the 23rd Psalm.  I recieved the book before I went to the hodpital in Toronto for the reconstruction of my larynyx and trechea.  At this time I found verses 4 and 6 comforting because I wasn't sure what to expect after the surgery.  I, of course came through great and had a voice for the first time in the middle of November that same year.

In January 1991 I went and took swimming lessons for the first time ever.  I was very grateful for that because I love the water and have always been told not to go past my waist and wear a life jacket.  In June 1991 I was able to be baptised which I had wanted to do for a couple of years but I couldn't.  At my baptism Cindy Reimer was my encourager and she read Psalms 23 as my encouragment.  On July 19th, 1991 my trach was removed sucessfully at 7:30am.  I was finally without a trach for the first time in 15 years.  February 5, 1992 God let me get mildly sick when I was at RJC so I had to come to the city for a doctor's apointment and college and career was having a grade 12 initiation night at the Alexander's which I went to and afterwards went out with someone who became my best friend almost instantly.  At that time I really needed a friend.  August 1992 God held off my throat from swelling shut until 7:30am on the 5th, in the morning after returning from California with AYF.  It was a miracle that I wasn't on the bus.  Also in August 1992 God gave me a great job where I caould be a witness and get fulfillment in the work I am doing.  July 17th, 1993 God let Brent and I into a new and important step in our relationship.  I have a lot to be thankful for right now.  God has given me good health for over a year.  A great relationship with Brent, and a good job.  Everything is looking up in my life right now because The Lord is my Shepherd.
